About Us

The Lucky Lop is an independent non-profit rabbit rescue based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. We started because rabbits are one of the most neglected and misunderstood pets in the UK — often bought on impulse, kept in unsuitable conditions, or abandoned when things get difficult. We wanted somewhere local, dedicated entirely to rabbits, that could give them the specialist care they need.

Our Mission

We take in unwanted, neglected and vulnerable rabbits from across South Yorkshire. Every rabbit that comes to us is health-checked, assessed and given the time and care they need to recover — physically and behaviourally — before we look for a suitable, permanent home for them.

Our Process

Step 1

Intake

We take in rabbits who are unwanted, neglected, abandoned or otherwise vulnerable, whatever their history.

Step 2

Care & Assessment

Each rabbit is vet-checked, neutered where needed, and assessed for health, temperament and bonding needs.

Step 3

Rehoming

We match each rabbit to a suitable home and stay on hand to support new owners afterwards.

Why Rabbit Rescue Matters

Rabbits are complex, social animals that live 8–12 years, need space, companionship and specialist care — yet they're frequently the least understood pet in the UK, and among the most abandoned. Independent, dedicated rescues like ours exist to give them somewhere safe to land, and to help new owners understand what good rabbit care actually looks like.

We're 100% Independent

We're not part of a national charity — we're a small, independent non-profit, which means every penny donated goes directly towards the rabbits in our care: their food, bedding, vet bills and housing.
